Mrs H had arranged to visit a friend who was house sitting in a nearby village in North devon. As her friend opened the door to greet her three dogs rushed out of the property and surrounded her. Mrs H kept very still but was bitten on the hand and required surgery to repair the wound. At the time Mrs H was recovering from a serious illness and while she had been able to cope on her own before she was bitten her injury meant that she needed to rely heavily on her daughter to help her out on a day to day basis. Again we were able to secure an early admission of liability and obtained a report from a local plastic surgeon on her injuries. As well as recovering compensation for her injuries we were able to recover an element of “gratuitous care” for the help and assistance her daughter had provided which went beyond what would be normally expected.
