We have successfully settled a dog bite compensation claim for a Hermes delivery driver who was bitten by a dog while making a delivery.

The man was working as a self employed delivery driver for Hermes and was delivering a parcel to a customer’s property. When he arrived at the house a gentleman was stood behind the gate with a border collie dog. The Hermes delivery driver indicated that he would leave the parcel on the step and the gentleman responded with a ‘thumbs up’ gesture. However, suddenly and without warning, the customer’s dog rushed through the gate towards the delivery driver, biting him on the thigh and causing him to also suffer injury to his back and his ankle as he tried to get away.

We were asked about bringing a compensation claim on behalf of the delivery driver and agreed to deal with his case on a No Win, No Fee basis. We have helped many delivery drivers recover compensation after being bitten or attacked by a dog while making deliveries to residential and business premises. We were therefore confident that we would achieve a successful outcome in this case.

As expected, legal responsibility for the incident was admitted by the dog’s owner in response to the formal ‘letter of claim’ we sent him.

We obtained a medical report on the delivery driver’s injuries and in the following negotiations the compensation claim was successfully settled ‘out of court’.
